Ellen Cohen (Goodworth)

Debbie was one of my dearest friends. She passed of pancreatic cancer in Waterbury Connecticut. She was with one of our college roommates Deby Sirica at the time. She passed in March of 2018. Her memorial service was held at Lakeview Cemetery in April of that same year. Rabbi Enid Lader from the West Side Temple officiate her service. I spoke these words at her service. She called me "Elro".

Debra Ellen Lyons

Our memories of sweet Debbie will continue to live in our dreams and actions. She was one of the most courageous people we knew.  She provided support, friendship, and unconditional love to the people she worked with, lived with, friends, and some whom she just met. From the beginning of Junior High she showed an amazing sense of humor and adventure.

A gifted athlete, Junior Silver Metal Winner in the Junior Olympics, a gifted artists, musician, rock and roller, a young woman who could do it all.

She attended the Martin Luther King March in Washington in 1968, Woodstock in 1969, and had planned to attend the Woodstock 50th Anniversary this Summer in Bethel NY in August. She loved G/d, her Family, brother Steve, Mother Dorthy, Father Ben, Aunt Millie, Cousin Jennifer and her very special friends;: Debbie Stifter, Alexis Antes, Bobbie Antes, Carol Goodrich, Deborah Fine McGuire, and John and Ellen Goodworth unconditionally. These people meant the world to her.

A special request has been made for Debra Lyons to be remembered at Yasgur’s Farm Spiritual Drum Circle on the 50th reunion of Woodstock, August 15, 2019. Let her soul soar.

Also a paver has been placed at Bethel in her memory.
